 Kent

Kent, the “Garden of England”, lies southeast of London.  It includes the famous White Cliffs of Dover, which have provided a strategic defence against the invading armies from right across Europe for hundreds of years. On the edge of the cliffs you will find historic Dover Castle, with its secret wartime tunnels. The city of Canterbury has Canterbury Cathedral, and is home to the Archbishop of Canterbury. Roman remains were found under the city after bombing in WWII. The Chunnel to France leaves from Ashford, in the south of Kent.

 Sussex

The counties of East and West Sussex lie south of London, between the counties of Kent and Hampshire. This area includes a large part of the South Downs, which stretches for over 100 miles between Winchester and Eastbourne and is one of the most beautiful features of the area. There are fantastic views south to the sea and north across scenic countryside. Sussex is characterised by its rolling chalk downs, deep valleys and steep slopes such as the Seven Sisters cliffs.  Sussex is also known for its busy resorts and excellent harbours.

  Surrey

Surrey is south of London, and hosts a major gateway to England - Gatwick Airport. There are many quaint towns and villages interspersed in its deeply wooded hills. The North Downs run from east to west providing excellent walks and views. The Surrey Cycleway offers one of the best ways of exploring the unexpected beauty of this county. The best-known landscape feature is probably the North Downs, rolling hills formed from chalk. Leith Hill is the highest point in southern England.
