Inn or Pub

It is a sensitive topic for some publicans when the question is asked. Are you a pub or an inn? If you didn't know the name of the establishment would you know whether you were in a pub or an inn? I know this is an argument that can never be won regardless of semantic reasoning and historical coinage in words. The bottom line will always revert to individual preference and the individual in most of the cases where the argument shifts in favour of pub or innn is with the innkeeper or publican!

The answer is clear! Some people just take longer to work it out. It doesn't help matters when you have groups of pubs claiming not to be pubs!
